About the Author

We’re excited to announce Angela Sager as our newest Accessible Homes Australia team member, who’ll be providing exceptional care to our residents, offering personalised support as they enjoy life in their Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) homes.

We met Angela through her work with the NDIS and were always enamoured by her smiling face, and her open, friendly and caring qualities.

We scheduled in a chat to find out a little more about our newest team member.

Q. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I moved to Queensland three years ago from Adelaide where I lived for 10 years, but Newcastle in New South Wales is home for me.

I’m a not-so-secret geek who loves sci-fi, reading and hanging out with friends. I prefer dinner and a few drinks with mates over a large gathering of people and enjoy going to the movies with my sister (who I live with) and we go as often as we can.

Q. What’s your role at AHA?

I’m here to help support all our tenants with any of their property or day-to-day needs.

AHA wanted to ensure that even with new projects taking place in Hervey Bay and beyond, our existing tenants were still guaranteed to receive responsive and personalised support and contact from us whenever they needed it.

My long-term goal is to learn as much as I can in all parts of the AHA organisation so at any given time during build, set-up or maintenance, I can be a major support for the AHA team and our tenants.

Q. How did you get involved with AHA?

I’ve worked within the NDIS space for several years and the opportunity to work for such a well-known and respected company as AHA was too good to pass up.

I’ve been lucky enough to work with a couple of the AHA team in previous roles and couldn’t wait to make them colleagues again.

Q. What does it mean to you to be involved in Accessible Homes Australia?

Since I started working in the NDIS space, I was happy to see the difference a high-quality organisation was able to make to a person’s quality of life.  My specialisation is in administration, so whilst it was rewarding to provide the backbone and structure of an NDIS provider, I missed the face-to-face, participant-focused work.

With AHA, I get to do both – I’m always front and centre for our tenants and not just in a ‘bricks and mortar’ kind of way, but I’m also making sure our back of house is in order!

I’m actively forming relationships with our residents and can directly assist to rectify any problems or requests.

At AHA, we treat all our residents as people with individual needs, and this is an ethos I believe in and a culture I want to support and build.

Q. What is a memorable moment in your career?

On my first day with AHA, I was introduced to my first resident and received such a warm and honest welcome.  I was immediately accepted as one of the team and part of the AHA community.  Moments like that are why we do what we do.

Q. What are you looking forward to at AHA?

I’m looking forward to being an integral part of our growth phase and seeing how things develop from the ground up at our new community locations.

I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen in the next five years in the Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) space, and I’m looking forward to seeing accommodation goals being met for people who possibly felt they’d never have the opportunity to live in such amazing purpose-built homes.

Q. Can you please tell me an interesting fact about yourself?

I love make-up and skin care.  I love the process of creating different looks with makeup on faces other than mine.  I love the process of an at-home facial and I have all the products.  I possibly have enough products for 10 people, but I love and use it all.

Q. What gets you up in the morning?

COFFEE!!!!  Isn’t coffee the elixir of life?

I love knowing I’m playing a part in making a positive difference in someone’s.

The gesture doesn’t need to be huge to be impactful, it just has to be heartfelt and in my role at AHA I get to do that every day.

If you’d like to become an AHA resident with access to our fantastic team of NDIS specialists, we are taking applications for our next project in Hervey Bay. For more details visit Contact Us | Accessible Homes Australia | Specialist Disability Home Solutions
